A Clinical Observation of Measles



Abstract
The clinical observation was performed on 92 admitted cases of measles at the pediatric ward of Wonkwang university hospital from Jan, to July, 1989. The results were summarized as followes
1. Among the 92 measles patients, 35 cases (38%) were vaccinated.
2. In the regional distribution, measles patients were more frequent in urban area (64 cases, 69.6%) compared with rural area (28 cases, 30.4%).
3. Among the 35 vaccinated patients, the age of the first measles vaccination was most common about 15 month of age (21 cases, 60.0%), but in 12 cases of measles patients, initially vaccinated before 12 month of age and revaccinated about 15 month.
4. The duration between vaccination and symptome onset was within 1 year in most cases (18 cases, 51.4%).
5. The most common place of vaccination was private clinic (16 cases, 45.7%).
6. The duration of fever was longer in the unvaccinated group than in the vaccinated group.
7. The most common complication was pneumonia (46 cases, 50.0%).
8. The complication incidence was higher in the unvaccinated group (66.6%) than in the vaccinated group (48.5%).
